Roué - Short Film

Fourth-year University Project, 2015

During the summer between the end of high school and university, my mum and I went to Europe. We went to visit all our family in Holland, and this time took the chance to go explore around Europe. We did all the big, touristy things. But one, amazing memory stands out above the rest.

The Roué de Paris. The towering ferris wheel on Place de la Concorde, opposite to the Arc de Triumphe along the Champs Élysées. From the wheel, you can see everything. The Musée du Louvre, the Tour Eiffel, Notre-Dame, Sacré Coeer...

It was magical.

The sun was setting early behind the grey overcast sky. Everything sparkled in contrast. The city sounds drowned out to a white noise as we reached the top of the wheel, the lights of a thousand cars and a million houses lighting up the horizon.

What I am communicating is the magic and romance of being on the Roué, along with the literal experience of it. I was elated, on top of the world, and sharing it all with my mother, one of the most important people in my life.

This could easily communicate to others the feeling of the Roué de Paris, Paris itself, Europe, or even the magic of travelling. I can easily envision it being an advertisement for any of these.
