GL.IT///CH Issue 01 - Folie a Deux

A glitch is a short-lived fault in a system. It is often used to describe a transient fault that corrects itself, and is therefore difficult to troubleshoot.

GL.IT///CH is an online zine that talks about issues, ideas, and concepts from the point of view of glitch. We believe in one thing "broken is beautiful". Here we try to make things better by breaking them. Our mission is to go against the concept of ideal perfection that is chased everywhere in the society by everyone.

"Have a sip of a glitch and maybe you'll like it."
GL.IT///CH Issue 01 - Folie A Deux
The first issue of GL.IT///CH talks about one of the most basic human instinct, love. Why love is broken and caused us problems, yet we still look for it. Some people have even denied the existence of love and call it a setback in human evolution. But isn't that what love is? An error, madness, a glitch in human behaviour.
GL.IT///CH Issue 01 "Folie A Deux" - Cover Page
Our society is obsessed with love, movies, songs, poetries, books, and quotes. Although the meaning of love is something that we are still debating until today. Love conquers all, all you need is love, love is to will the good of another, a condition of absolute value, feeling of unity, unconditional selflessness, those are just some of the proverb about love out there. “One is very crazy when in love” is a quote by Sigmund Freud. Some of us would agree and some would disagree with it. To understand love you have to be in love, is how we always explain love.
GL.IT///CH Issue 01 "Folie A Deux" - PSY///CHO._>SIS -
Drawing inspiration from a phenomenon called “Folie à Deux” French for “a madness shared by two” as an analogy for love. It is a psychiatric syndrome in which a delusions or belief are transmitted from one individual to another and shared by two people. With this description falling in love falls into the category of delusion and  psychosis. How can you promise you will always love someone? How can you be sure you will never feel differently? Can you really believe you and the other person have a special connection unlike any other? How can you promise to always be there? No one else shares the belief just you and your partner. And when the other person in the duo shares these beliefs - aren’t it a shared psychosis disorder?
GL.IT///CH Issue 01 "Folie A Deux" - THE///GREATEST///LOVE///OF///ALL¿
It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but "The Greatest Love of All" is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves. Since, Elizabeth, it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album.
- Patrick Bateman (American Psycho, 2000)
GL.IT///CH Issue 01 "Folie A Deux" - /INˈFɛKT/ ME WITH YOUR <3
It meets all the criteria. One person usually falls in love first – it’s rare for two folks to be in lock-step. So thus you have a person with the already-established delusion, who draws the other in. In fact this diagnosis is actually intended for beliefs that the average person may find bizarre (e.g. a person believes the government is sending electromagnetic waves that are causing memory loss into his apartment and draws his neighbor into the belief). But I am not sure how much more bizarre this is than believing you will love another forever, that the world looks different for just the two of you, that food tastes better, colors seem brighter, the world was made for just you and yours. Neither of these belief systems has a shred of evidence to support it.
GL.IT///CH Issue 01 "Folie A Deux" - 404 ERR///OR PA.TI.ENT(S) NOT FO(UND)
Obviously – we don’t diagnose it for the same reason we don’t diagnose those who believe in water turning into wine or elephant headed gods. Religious beliefs are bizarre beliefs with no support from the material world –but since enough people hold them – majority rules. The only difference between the patients and the doctors is who holds the keys to the ward, and he who holds the keys makes the rules.
GL.IT///CH Issue 01 "Folie A Deux" - LO///VE ME TILL W.E BOTH GO CRAZY
Or maybe we are the psychotic one for dismissing love as a transient, albeit beautiful phase? So at the end of the day, perhaps falling in love is just that – psychotic. But it sounds a lot sexier if we call it a folie a deux.

Or like Steven Tyler said "Yeah you drive me Crazy, crazy, crazy, for you baby."
