Welcome to The ̶U̶n̶i̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶S̶t̶a̶t̶e̶s̶ Obama's Nation.
It was a project made on Adobe Photoshop and also I used a WACOM tablet. This digital illustration was meant to be published into an independent magazine called: Infecta2 Magazine. The idea for the concept came from a research about power, hip hop culture and racial issues in North America.
The first black president of the United States, Barack Obama, has always been a very diplomatic man, like most of the politicians, formal and polite. So with this picture I tried to contradict that idea, of a correct and peaceful man, that respects the law and other people’s rights; and put Obama in another place. Now he is not the president but the owner of the country were people defend their right of owning weapons.
Youth and Swag are replacing all those protocol behaves. I didn't want to show nothing in particular on this image, but when I was working on it, a lot of questions appeared. Maybe you can have your own read of this piece and wonder about the real dimensions of being the president of a violent and powerful country; a country that claims for liberty but has broken the rights of another’s countries. U.S. government has with blood its flag. This illustration asks us: What if the president was a gang leader, a young tattooed NIGGA? And what is the real meaning of being the head of a nation, to be the one who make the decisions? He is boos, who never has to say «Sorry »
