Custom Comes Standard

In 2012 Alex Stoos approached me to design a logo for his new venture, Stoos Customs.
Very quickly this became a project that I could call a labour of love. From the initial proposal of his logo to an award winning website I have been the brand custodian for Stoos Customs. In 2014 I brought the brand over to Two.AM agency where we have done great work including the website and a radio campaign.

Black & White Mentality
Straight off the bat it was identified that Stoos was of the opinion that if the bike didn't need something,
it wasn't going to make it on the bike. He makes everey effort to simplify things.
Hiding wires in the frame and limiting the amount of colours are just two examples
of his efforts striving for brutal simplicity. He also said that a customer could suggest anything,
but ultimately it was up to him what he puts his name on.

So, naturally the brand needed to reflect his beliefs. A black & white brand for a black & white man.
Responsive, Standard.
The audience demands a seamless experience ascross devices - we had to go responsive.
The UI was designed to seamlessly adapt to any platform, be it desktop, mobile or tablet,
and still provide the user with a taste of what the world is like behind the bars of a Stoos Customs creation.

The Bikes
Our aim was to create a story around each bike.
We came up with the names and personalities for the bikes to personify their traits
in an attempt to befriend a potential customer.

F250 Black Edition - The Most Comfortable Asskicking Ever
Chuck your ass aboard this infernal beast, take it by the horns and float across a river of fire.
This long-range grand tourer is comfortable, but that doesn’t mean it’s forgiving.
In it’s eyes, you’re the matador and the odds are never in your favour.

SC Bomber - Let's Fly
Are you prepared to live with yourself after you’ve dropped 1340 megatons of bliksem on the tar mac?
The bomber is the perfect combination of shellshock and simplicity; everything you’re afraid of is there, everything else isn't.

The Ratster - Gutter King
Ratster is that friend who jumps out of a moving car into a bush and drinks all your whiskey; but you still hang out with him.
With the ancestory of a sportster 883 and the inspiration of a rat-rod, this bike will become your best bad influence.

The Phoenix - Born Again
The Yamaha V-Star was an O.K bike, but this Custom version,
now dubbed “The Phoenix” has risen from the ashes of stock part hell
and spread it’s fiery wings into a Stoosified demigod.

Photography
There were two elements needed in terms of photography - Location and Studio bike shots.
All the locations I sourced and shot myself, whilst with the bike shots I just Art Directed.

Speaking To The Individual
When concepualizing these two scripts, we needed to consider that each motorcycle draws inspiration
from the customer’s personality, desires, and style, thus, no two bikes would ever be the same.

This powerful positioning needed to be effectively communicated in a radio ad
that spoke to the fact that each motorcycle is custom built for the individual.

2oceansvibe radio was the perfect fit for us to reach the highly affluent market we aim for with Stoos Customs.
So we ran a month long campaign that included a giveaway and two chats with Alex Stoos himself.
