Harriet Rayden's profile

Abstinence AW15 Editorial

The collection transpired from birds of prey, looking conceptually at their sense of freedom, overly large wing span and also the natural colour formations that their soft feathers create and how that is contrasted by their piercing orange eyes and strong, structured beaks. The ideology of birds being free is opposed in Falconry, with the birds being restricted daily with leathers hoods, tethers and cages. This sense of juxtaposition is what the collection encompasses and digresses to similarities of human and animal restriction.
