The room of Isidore

My work mixes photography with sculpture, creating spatial images intended to break down the conventions of photographic representations and create new possibilities within the medium.

Can an inherently reproductive process create original artworks? The silver gelatine is the most commonly used analogue print type, its reproducibility made photography the fastest expanding medium of the 20th century. In our current digital age the popularity of this process decreased, however some of its qualities are yet to be fully explored.

The room of Isidore takes photography’s capabilities beyond traditional representations by merging image and object together, creating a third, unique piece from the two. Isidore’s belongings have transformed into devices trough which we can have a glimpse into the fading fragments of memories and absence of Isidore by symbolism, objects and photographs.
