Evolution. The Antwerp Six. Revolution
El libro plantea la evolución de la moda a través de tres etapas. Que sucedió antes de Los 6 de Amberes, lo que hicieron estos y la revolución que crearon a posteriori en la moda siendo una influencia para los diseñadores de la actualidad. Como Los 6 de Amberes está formado por seis diseñadores, se escogieron seis diseñadores para retratar Evolution y seis diseñadores para retratar Revolution. Los diseñadores en Evolution son: André Courrèges, Pierre Cardin, Hubert de Givenchy, Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga y Jacques Fath. Los 6 de Amberes son: Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dirk Van Saene y Marina. Los diseñadores en Revolution son Acne Studios, Études Studio, Alexander Wang, Gareth Pugh, Miuniku e Iris Van Herpen.
La separación de las tres etapas se realiza a través de la orientación en la lectura, el cambio de layout y el uso de distintas tipografías. En el centro podemos conocer lo que supusieron Los 6 de Amberes a través de una biografía extensa, entrevista e imágenes, ejerciendo como separador de las otras secciones compuestas exclusivamente por una biografía breve e imágenes. El centro es remarcado por el cambio de papel ivory, mientras que las partes exteriores son blancas.
La etapas de Evolution y Revolution están maquetadas verticalmente en orientaciones opuestas y Los 6 de Amberes está maquetada en horizontal. Esto provoca que haya dos portadas, una por donde se empieza a leer Evolution y otra (haciendo el giro vertical) Revolution. Las portadas representan la estructura del libro de las tres partes y sus orientaciones. Está decisión se tomó para transmitir el concepto de “revolución”, que significa “dar la vuelta”, y que con este sistema de layout opuesto, hay que dar la vuelta al libro. La V y la I de Evolution y Revolution, hacen referencia a Los 6 diseñadores por etapa, como el Six representa a Los 6 de Amberes.
The book presents the evolution of fashion through three stages. What happened before The Antwerp Six, what did these do and the revolution they created thereafter in fashion being an influence for designers today. As The Antwerp Six consists of six designers, other six were chosen to portray Evolution and six more to portray Revolution. The Evolution designers are: André Courrèges, Pierre Cardin, Hubert de Givenchy, Christian Dior, Cristóbal Balenciaga and Jacques Fath. The Antwerp Six are: Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Bikkembergs, Dirk Van Saene and Marina. The Revolution designers are: Acne Studios, Études Studio, Alexander Wang, Gareth Pugh, Miuniku and Iris Van Herpen.
The separation of the three stages is done through the guidance in reading, changing layout and using different fonts. In the middle we can know what The Antwerp Six accounted through an extensive biography, interview and images, serving to the other sections as a separator composed exclusively of a short biography and images. The center is highlighted by the change of ivory paper, while the outer parts are white.
The stages of Evolution and Revolution are layouts created vertically in opposite orientations and The Antwerp Six is in a horizontal layout. This leads having two covers, one to start reading Evolution and the other (making the turn) to start reading Revolution. The covers show the structure of the book of the three stages and their orientations. This decision was made to convey the concept of "revolution", which means "turn around" and with this opposed layout system, you have to flip the book. The V and I of Evolution and Revolution, refer to the six designers by stage, as the Six of The Antwerp Six represents them.
