Hair:

It is believed that in ancient times hair’s length indicated the vitality of a man. The circumcision or pulling hair in many nations was considered as a manifestation of grief and despair.

Hair keeps life’s energy and the longer your hair is the more burden it carries. A human on a subconscious level erases all the negative feelings and emotions by trimming hair.

Wish tree:

It is a human nature to dream and to create a plan for the  future. Without that it is impossible to live a full life, because then there will be nothing to strive for. For centuries people have been searching the way which might help them to fullfill their wishes quickly and accurately. Tales and legends are proof for that, they always have a place for miracle.

Today it became popular to have a tree of wishes that helps to fulfill all our plans.

Totem:

During my research I found a lot of information about hair which led me to think about the theme of ancient totems.
Totem is an animal, plant, object or phenomenon of nature, which is the object of religious veneration in tribal groups. Charm or animal power, bestowed by God to help us and protect us.
I decided to create a unique combination of all these magical themes.

The Wish Tree is a combination of the idea of a simple wish tree  and totem where hair shows the strength of the desire of these wishes to become true. For me personally this is some kind of a plan for my next 10 years. Some of these wishes came from my past, some of them are new and there are some empty spaces for another wishes which will appear during the time.

I decided to show how this illustration might be used. The illustration also can be transfered into the animation and than be used as an advertisment for WeTransfer company.
