D&AD John Lewis brief

This was for the one of the briefs D&AD set this year. I chose the John Lewis packaging brief, I’ve never had a packaging brief before and wanted to see what I would come up with. The brief was to reinvent the packaging that John Lewis uses to deliver online purchases. It had to be an engaging, aspirational home delivery experience. The design was to be a structural packaging system that could scale to work across the whole of the John Lewis home delivery platform, and to design at least three formats with different shapes and sizes. We were also asked to consider what new and exciting materials, technologies or printing techniques are out there.

My outcome for this project was a reusable packaging system using tarpaulin. It’s durable, you can print on it and can be easily cleaned if it gets a little dirty during delivery. I thought this would be a good way to engage the customer, as you are helping with less wastage of packaging and you also get a reward for doing so.
