Making Light in Tbilisi is my first film. It is a documentary about my family’s experience making art during Artisterium, an art biennial held in Tbilisi Georgia. Artisterium’s goal is to create an international dialog, to share and learn from different artists, designers and craftspeople from around the world. Our project focused on up-cycling disposable plastic containers. We transformed trash into beautiful functional light fixtures with the help of local students and artists. The film was screened at my high school’s film festival.

Nilo Batle

My name is Nilo Batle; I’m 16 years old living in San Francisco California. I have grown up in an artist household where my parents have taught me how to draw, sculpt and look at the world in different ways. Currently I attend Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in the Media and Film Arts department. I have been making films for less than a year but I have fallen in love with the ability to tell stories in a way that only moving images can convey. I have become so passionate about my involvement in film that I have decided to peruse film making in college.
