KANDO. Yamaha. Moment.

The logo and the font were designed for the Yamaha Corporation/Yamaha Motor Corporation as a final outcome for Graphic Design Awards by Yamaha (GDAY) competition. The aim of the brief is to design a graphic form of KANDO, the Japanese word that means for the heart “to be deeply moved”. Graphic form could be an original graphic idea (marks, symbols, pictograms etc) that respond to the theme from GDAY in the realest sense of the word.

KANDO means not only a WOW moment but also a feeling of perfection. This work is a combination of everything that is connected to that feeling. There are birds which are flying together, side by side, as a couple. There is a butterfly which is my vision of a symbol of a perfect moment. There are simple shapes.

YAMAHA is not only "Music" but it is also "Motors" and by creating the perfect symbol for both directions it is very hard to keep two sides perfectly combined. In my mind, that this symbol is excellently shows both sides of a heart of YAMAHA. KANDO means touch the heart and I also tried to show the symbol of heart in the shape of the icon.

The font is based on the inspiration by the Kando icon.
