Plato's Republic is a philosophical dialogue from 300 BCE discussing justice in men and the state. A common explanation for the traits of a good man are the four cardinal virtues: justice, wisdom, temperance, and courage. The covers of these books feature anatomical illustrations of parts of the body associated with each virtue.
