For my final project in my Technical Illustration course we had create a image of a subject matter of our choice. He had to create the illustration in either ghost/cutaway or exploded view. I chose to create an exploded view of a kitchen chair. I found it a bit difficult coming up with what to make so I settled of this piece of furniture being that I felt it would easy to re-create in exploded view. 

 

I started out by creating some sketches of the chair in the intended view. I drew each part of the chair seperate, depicted the intended setup.

After getting my sketch to look the way I wanted it to, I uploaded the image into Adobe Illustrator in order to start the sketch. I used the pen tool to achieve the outline of the chair. I adjusted the handles to make the shape to my liking. Once I was satisfied with the appearance, I selected the paint brush tool and added some stroke effets to the different parts of the chair in order to add some definition. This process took longer than I expected causing me to run a little short on time. I intend to continue added brush strokes to the parts to further define them as well as add a litle bit of color. Despite those facts, I'm satisfied with the outcome!
