The brief was to design a book cover illustration for leading fantasy fiction writer, Robert Meadley. For this brief I was asked to soley focus on the cover illustration. A vision of the cover was provided by the author which contained meaning as he drew it in an art therapy session. I didn’t want to stray too far from this but also tried to use my skills in order to make the design more appealable to print and contain messages of journey. 

 

The final design contains map contours to represent the journey to Ost. Also a real tense of tension between these two abstract images hopefully creates a level of intrigue to the viewer. This image could be reference to a few things in the book, of which I felt the reader could decide.
