The design was done for a poster to commemoration of Attar of Nishapour known as Farid ud-Din Attar who is one of the Persian poets. Farid ud-Din Attar is one of the greatest Sufi mystic poets, and The Conference of the Birds (Man-tiq ut-tayr) is that one of his books which I used the story of that to design my art pieces. This is a symbolic story of the soul's search for truth. The poem begins with the birds of the world gathering together to seek a king. The wisest of them, the hoopoe, suggests they undertake a journey to the court of the great Simorgh (a mythical Persian bird roughly equivalent to the Western phoenix), where they can achieve enlightenment. The abstract paints looks like Simorq on my designs. The flying birds on word "LOVE" comes from the meaning of Simorq in persian language and the meaning of that in the story. In Persian, si means thirty, and morq means bird. Hence, Simorq can be read as “thirty birds”, and in the end of the story only thirty birds make it to their destination. There they find that they themselves, collectively, have become the great Simorgh. This poster was desined for Iranian Cultural Organization of Uconn.
Thanks for Watching! :)
