New home - Greeting Card

When I walked through the doors to my new house last year, the first thing my mum said was “Turn the lights on, let’s make this house a home.”
Since then our house is always full of lights, which is comforting and relaxing.
When you move house you need to make your house a home, and that’s what we did.
I wanted to incorporate this memory to an idea, as it’s a nice feeling coming home from university or work to find my house looking welcoming and comfortable.
Moving house is a traumatic time on its own, as you have no idea where your belongings are, where the dog’s bed is and where your toothbrush is, however when you turn the lights on you instantly feel more safe and secure.
Having a comfortable home allows you to relax and be at ease. I wanted my greeting card to give the impression of this along with the feeling of warmth and comfort.
The paper I used is a collection of craft paper that I have been collecting for a while. I wanted to give the shabby chic finish to my card, as I believed that it works well with the idea behind the card.
The first card that I made (The one with the three houses) looked slightly over crowded, so I redid it again with a more simplistic design.
Adding lights to the card was very tricky, as getting hold of card lighting is an effort in itself. However I am pleased with the overall outcome.

Below are the two cards. One has its lights on, while the other is turned off.
