Brief: Reduce the amount of Problem Gamblers in the UK.

Problem: Gambling is a serious issue in the UK. There are currently 450,000 problem gamblers
in the UK alone,  a 90,000 increase compared to a count 3 years previously.

Throwing away your lost betting slip has become almost passive with little or no effect on your average punter. UNTIL NOW!
Solution: I made a smart bin to go in bookies (The Could-Have-Bin). Depending on how much your bet costed, you use a yellow, blue or red betting slip.

As you throw away your losing slip (you probably have lost) the bin recognises the colour and activates a screen on the front that looks like the inside of the bin. Instead of the screen playing your slip falling in the bin, it plays what you have 'really thrown away' i.e lunch, a new pair of shoes or even a holiday.

The solution aims to stop the innocent gamblers from developing a gambling addiction by making a loss feel more real, and more than just binning a piece of paper.

Bins pre-activated
Bins once activated by coloured slip. The contents will drop into the bins in slow motion once the coloured slip is binned...
Final screen asks 'What have you really thrown away?'... in other words 'What Could-Have-been'
The colour sensor sits just beneath the lid
I also developed an App equivalent of the 'Could-Have-Bin'.
