Visual Rant

I tried to have a warning tone to this piece with elements to keep the interest from the audience. The red and the brain scan sets up the serious tone for the poster, and a slogan “ ultimate kidnapper” was added on the bottom along with an embedded picture of a boy in light opacity over a brain scan, which resembled a person’s face. Blue part, which shows the part of the brain being stimulated by both the cocaine and game addiction becomes a three dimensional shape with 3D glasses along with words floating on the bottom that says Cocaine/Game.

Three Facts

Most people do know that game addiction is bad for their kids and themselves, but not how serious it is. Using juxtaposition to cocaine, inspired by recent article comparing brain activities of cocaine and video game addicts by Nature magazine, I came up with three facts to communicate the seriousness of game addiction. Because my targeted audience was both parents and the children, I based overall visual theme from a classic arcade game, space invader.

Typography Rant

I was inspired by the fact that the most of addictions are defined by how much time people spend on it, and it lead me to create a poster with statistics on how much time people are spending on playing video games. I put together these statistics to resemble a daily schedule, to personify the issue and reach the audience more personally. The layout has a large range of vibrant colors and different type size and weights to bring a similar visual effect as often overly stimulating video game screen.Pac-man in the background , the protagonist eating the dots symbolizes our time being eaten away by playing video game.
