Moducool - Modular vaccine rucksack

Moducool - University Final Year Project

Moducool is a modular vaccine rucksack to aid in the transportation and distribution of vital vaccines in rural areas of LEDCs.

Vaccines have to be kept between 2-8°C and are carried by aid workers on foot in single chamber cool boxes across mountainous terrain in a effort to reach remote communities.

Many communities are immunised in a single day and at each location the cool box lid has to be removed to access the required vaccines. The last community to be immunised in the day will receive vaccines that have been exposed to much more heat than necessary as a result of the frequent opening of the cool box.

Moducool has insulated modules that can be dedicated to particular tribes and ensures that only the required vaccines at any one moment are exposed to heat. It also has an integrated sharps box to ensure that all medical waste is disposed of safely.
