Student Survival Guide

--- THE CHALLENGE ---

Entering first year can be extremely daunting for students.

Where will I go on my first day? Will I get lost? What supplies are necessary? Are there any skills I should be working on a head of time? Are my teachers as scary as I think they will be? I wonder if I will know anyone in my class?

But it doesn't need to be an overwhelming experience.

--- THE GOAL ---

This doesn't need to be an overwhelming experience. I wanted to take all of the information incoming G102 students are given, distill it down to the key messages and feed it back to them in a way that is graphically appealing to them.

--- THE APPROACH ---

The interactivity options in digital publishing are so much more plentiful than those in printing. We can really engage with our readers and be able to create things that we have never been able to create for paper. The options for social sharing allow us to get our message out there to everyone with a simple click of a button.

One of the biggest benefits to digital publishing is the analytical feedback that helps us optimize the content. We we will be able to understand what students are engaging with and be able to adapt and change as necessary without all the costs involved in reprinting.

--- THE PROCESS ---

I have been documenting my journey over the past 15 weeks on my wiki blog and I encourage you to read more over there. I talk about my workflow process, roadblocks and learning curves. You will also get to see a bit into how the design evolved.
