Bedtime Stories Promotional Poster

A promotional poster for the Laugh/Riot Performing Arts Company in Edinboro, Pennsylvania performing Bedtime Stories written by Charles Mee. The cast interprets the script in a very dynamic fashion by randomizing the order in which scenes appear each night it is performed promising a truly unique show to the audience. The show will make appearances during the Spring and Summer of 2015 in Erie, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Chicago.
When designing this poster I worked hard to reference the nature of the play in a sophisticated and subtle manner while avoiding cliches and obvious solutions in order to challenge and engage the audience. I used a spaghetti fork as my main imagery to show the interweaving of the randomized theatrical scenes in the play. It is also a reference to the plot within one of the scenes. I illustrated the image by hand and colored it in photoshop. I let the pasta fall horizontally to reinforce the odd nature of the play. The placement of the display type reference the couples sitting in bed when telling the many stories while the smaller copy mimics the pasta falling to the right. I removed the tittles from the letter i's to encourage eye movement and hint at the way some of the participants in the many conversations are detached from reality. The border references the dimensions of a queen-sized mattress.
