I was on a Europe trip. I met Cathy at the right time, it was our first time meeting each other. I always wanted to make an album cover and that's how this project started. Solita Por El Mundo means Lonely In The World, I was a newbie designer and did not ask her what the album is all about. My reference was only the title of the album and her photoshoot's photo stocks. Most her previous cover albums are usually a portrait of herself, but for this album she was really welcome with different ideas.
Lonely in the world
The word "lonely" oftentimes linked to the word "sadness".
But, what I imagine, like when you read or watch Haruki Murakami's novel/ film, he captured loneliness so beautifully. And that's what I was trying to achieve in this project.
The main inspiration is SUNSET, it has the power to calm you down, and the mood is comfortable. I decided to use the colours of sunset to set the mood in this album. The font selection was rooting to the vintage feeling of her branding. Giving a lot negative space in the cover also intended to enhance the loneliness.
