The New Blood 2015 awards included the WeTransfer brief, which was to create an illustration that represented the future you (in 10 years time). The outcome for this was to create an animation and a print piece.
In deciding what I wanted to be in 10 years time, I realised it did not matter what I was, as long as I was helping. This became the mantra for my future self: ‘I just want to help’.
I illustrated speech, demonstrating the mantra at its initial stage. Illustrating in this style gave the design a raw and honest feel, which represented the meaning behind the design. The hand written red type adds to the personal connection of the piece, reinforcing the passion I have to help. The repetition of the .gif echoes the nature of a mantra.
