Retrofix project is oriented towards a sustainable architecture in an urban context thus responding to the challenges launched by the European Solar Decathlon 2014 competition. Our proposal is aimed towards a development strategy that better suits an already present built environment and current social issues. The focus on heritage is ever present: the residential buildings developed between 1960-1989, during the communist era, made out of prefabricated reinforced concrete panels.
The project branches in three distinct directions:
SOCIAL : by creating common spaces connected by a green promenades on the
roof terraces of the buildings, all accessible with the help of an elevator.
ECOLOGICAL : by implementing energy efficiency systems such as solar panels
ECONOMICAL : a more efficient thermal envelope that, with the help of other passive
systems, reduces costs throughout the year for the people residing in
those buildings.
Retrofix envisions an alternative for a contemporary solution for the preexisting residential buildings in Romania, by increasing comfort, and at the same time, reducing energy consumption.
