The characters were originally supposed to be for an animation that my team and I were supposed to submit last semester, but due to time contstraints and other extra-curricular related matters, we weren't able to finish half of the plot of the short animated film.
"Dawn"
The story is about Yuu, a youth who is like an outcast of the class because of their different appearance, who becomes unlikely friends with a giant mink as they build up each others' friendship and confidence to be unashamed for who they are.
Hopefully we'll find the time to pick up where we left off and continue animating this in hopes of finishing it and posting it to the web.
Yuu's character design is intentionally vague in terms of gender. Is Yuu a boy, or a girl? It's up to you to decide.
Also Yuu's name is both Japanese for "Friend" (夕) and a pun for "you", as the main character.
Mink is reminiscent to existing large fluffy animal companions in movies or series like Studio Ghibli's Totoro. We thought about using a silent mink as Yuu's companion throughout the story because not a lot of existing animation uses minks as a character in their story (none that I know of, at least.)
Also minks are sort of like a different kind of ferret, it's an interesting animal.
