Tun Bionics - Branding

Tun Bionics is a fictional organization that I created. The organization studies microscopic organisms, focusing on the tardigrade. Their goal is to learn from these incredibly resiliant creatures and develop technology that can protect humans from extreme conitions such as: radiation, the pressure of the depths of the ocean, outer space, and intense heat.

The logo represents one of these tardigrades in a "tun" state. This is the state of the animal when it is impervious to harsh conditions. The gray color represents the dormant state, while the bright blue legs represent the wealth of life and enegry protected inside.
A mood board for the study of microorganisms.
Specifications for colors to be used when printed in CMYK, RGB, or Spot color.
Sketches and ideation.
A two page ad for Popular Science magazine. The first page entices the reader with an open statement, then on the next page is an article from the magazine, leaving them wondering. On the following page is the second part of the ad, answering the questions in the reader's mind.

Tardigrades are often found in moss. The idea is that Tun Bionics sees potential for scientific progress where you might only see nature!
The second page includes a descripton of the organization and a url if the reader wants to find out more. I created three separate designs for the second page, to be used in separate editions of the magazine as a series. This version has an illustration of a tardigrade.
This version shows an illustration of an astronaut, telling the reader that the potential for technology that would make space travel more advanced can lie in something as simple as moss on the ground.
A third version with an illustration of a creature that would live deep underwater where we cannot yet explore because we lack the technology. Tun Bionics is the organization that can make deep sea exploration possible!
