At the façade above the main entrance of the New City Hall a contribution of Leipzig’s twin city Lyon can be seen. They were selected by Lyon City to represente the Lyon at the light festival.
At the transition point from dictatorship to democracy the freedom to vote is the central achievement of the Peaceful Revolution. This freedom is likewise obligation and responsibility.
The project ‘I vote, I build!’ by Théoriz Studio and Studio BK invites spectators to become aware of two models of society. They lead the spectator either into a colourful, vibrant world full of liberties and diversity of opinions or to a miserable place where Germany’s and Europe’s values are not respected and alienated in favour of an authoritarian regime. Reminding of the election fraud of May 1989 the project is challenging the role of the citizens in a democratic society as well as their participation in the development of a city, a nation and of Europe.
