With this project, 3D design principles were explored by cutting, bending and curling 4” x 4” square pieces of Fabriano cardstock. These abstract forms were inspired by organic forms; each made to capture the essence rather than duplicate, the Calla Lily, Cordate shaped leaves and the Anthurium.
Anthurium
Radiating linear lines were cut and bent into a tear drop like shape that captures the radiating essence of an Anthurium flower.
Cordate
Layering what looks like two forms in one creates the illusion of leaves overlapping one another while the curls exude the essence of foliage. Various cuts were made and bent to suggest a cordate shaped leaf.
Lilium
A simple bend, diagonal cuts and curls were all made to create texture, suggest a direction of growth and to capture the essence of a Calla Lily.
