Young Civil Engineers Society DkIT

This project was completed in 2013 and required the redesign of a logo for the Young Civil Engineers Society at DkIT:

In trying to achieve a design that is both minimalistic and self-justified while conforming to specifics within a brief, inevitably there were a few difficulties. The brief required a simple design incorporating eight words or the initials there-of. It was essential for the logo to showcase the nature of the orgainsation while sticking to a specific size and colour restriction. Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe adopted the phrase “Less is more” as a guideline for minimalist design. Studies have proven that less clutter leads to quicker perception and a better re-call ability (RTE TV Research & Marketing, 2013.) It was a challenge to achieve a minimalistic, easily-read design while also incorporating all aspects of the brief. This was the most significant issue throughout the process. Equally, it was an interesting learning experience. The finished design achieves an accurate representation of the orgnisations purpose and its tone of voice in a clean and original way.
