Hyperstructure - trial and error concept.

Hyperstructure of Cloudforest, trial & error concept with cooperation of Elena Larrea (ETSAB, SP-Barcelona)

The great ideas of architectural history have specific sense of nostalgia. Some were associated with the great intellectual architecture movements, others remained nearly unnoticed by theirs contemporaries. Nevertheless all became real legends over time. Often criticized legends of today are invariably admired.

Our Hiperstructure aims to bring humans closer to the nature. Not only in the common way
- by interacting with the softscape of parks, forests, etc. There are two main ideas driving the ‘cloud’ concept:
1. Spontaneous elements relocation – urban collocation of nature system elements. Namely: biocentres, ecological corridors, ecotones, ecological islands, etc. into inhabitated spaces. It means that each of the nature system elements will correspond not in form, but in the functionality and atmosphere with the hyperstructure elements.
2. Layer elements relocation – structural collocation of rainforest layers. We believe that the rainforest is the least ‘touched’ place with its wildness, danger, and inaccessibility. Now we translate those elements to people in terms of the structure layers by giving - again - the atmosphere, but also the structural and climatical components.
“Cities are an inmense laboratory of trial and error...” - Jane Jacobs. All this delights me.
