Racing helmets are the one thing that gives each driver their own true identity on the track, and sets them apart from their competitors. Fans and Sponsors identify drivers just from their helmets alone. Working with the worlds best drivers can be a very unique process from the first sketch to the finished product.

During the design, process Bryce Choquer focuses on making each helmet specific for each driver by giving them their own identity. It is important to have a mock up that looks as close to the finished product as possible for the client because, it gives the client a strong understanding of how their helmet will look painted. Doing so each design is carefully analyzed to ensure it matches up with the curves and edges on the helmet and that the detailed will not be distorted or lost.

The process starts with a rough sketch from the client, along with a list of required colours. From there the sketch will be scanned onto the computer where all shapes will be traced in illustrator. Once all the shapes have been fine tuned Bryce takes them into photoshop where the helmet template awaits. Shading and highlights are the final step which is completed in photoshop.  Once the design is approved by the client, the design is sent off to the painter where they will take Bryce’s design and paint it onto a new helmet.
