Malasaña is a vibrant, alternative neighborhood found West of Chueca and East of Argüelles in Madrid, Spain. This part of Madrid is especially famous because it is where the heart of the “movida” movement took place in the late 1970’s that dramatically changed Spanish culture.

The zone is full of busy bars and clubs that are always overflowing with young people enjoying a night out with friends.

As of now, the neighborhood is undergoing some major renovations to make the area more modern and attractive.

But to me, it is incredibly beautiful just the way it is and is the reason why I created this illustration. I wanted to capture the colors, light, and atmosphere of Malasaña as it is now before it changes.
