The previous experiments gave me the confidence to pursue more complex designs. I had my apprehensions about the ink and how well it would work, but was really pleased with how quick it changed state.
To take this further I began expanding my designs and made a more finallised outcome. By incoporating a 'reveal' element in this design, the user could interact with the surface, which in turn would change state and allow the type underneath become more visible. I played around with a variety of different handmade paper for this, as I felt that the quality of the paper would allow the heat to transfer quicker. Below shows the designs before and after user interaction. I have also uploaded a video which shows the print being placed on a hot, then cold surface. The reaction is instantaneous and pretty impressive!
