Tattoos are a form of art that uses the human body as a canvas and unlike a painting, which can be discarded, a tattoo is a permanent and involves commitment. Tattoos are a form of self-expression and have become ever more popular/accepted, but I do not think that there are enough publications or information about this art form and its origins, considering its lengthy history and increasing popularity. Most tattoo magazines usually showcase vulgar imagery on the cover and use typography poorly, making the magazine unappealing to most. Tattoo art is becoming ever more accepted but the portrayal of tattoos via the majority of magazines sets a certain image that is not an accurate reflection of everyone who has or aspires to have tattoos. The magazine will display the content in an innovative and appealing way, mimicking the content in style. My goal was to create a well-designed publication that discusses tattoo art in depth and provides appropriate visuals for readers.
