Reflection

With my art work I wanted to create something fun. I wanted it to come across as playful and bright. I blew a bubblegum bubble to show a youthful, lively theme. I carried that out with the curvy hair ends and thick strokes on many of the shapes. When searching Pinterest for inspiration I really like the pop-art examples and I wanted mine to have the same fun feel.
The artist that has the same style and may have communicated the same message was American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. His most famous work is the Drowning Girl. Lichtenstein used bright colors and thick black lines to communicate humor and fun just like my portrait.  His work is similar to mine because they both use small dots as a background color, and thick stroke to make it dramatic. Something he does different is he uses more black throughout his paintings to show contrast.
