This 2014 ceramics series utilizes exposed porcelain to create a clay memory of each individual who uses an object through the staining of the pores. I wanted to play with the qualities of clay memory and the impressions that potters experience when working with unfired clay. The intimate aesthetics of cups, bowls, and foodware provide many opportunities to explore different sensations and relationships between individuals and their objects.

 

This first 2014 firing was a difficult experiment for me to use clay again. I've learned a lot about clay porcelain bodies and will be experimenting more with the type of clay i'm creating and textures complimentary to the works.
