My take on the classic monster. I tried to add anatomy that was inspired by gorillas and other large apes, to give it the ability to run on all fours and still keep a strong humanoid silhouette when it stands. The large swords serve as trophies for young males.

I tried to create an image of a subterranean ecosystem in action, with a highly specialized predator chasing equally well evolved prey, to give the sense of an independent environment that has evolved in a way that's completely different from our own.
