Through the pages of the cultural insert "Parathyro" of the "Politis" newspaper, the editor of "Graphic Stories", Aggeliki MK Athanasiadi, initially wanted to give the stigma of graphic design in Cyprus and subsequently come in direct contact with the community of the creative people of the field. This interaction has shown the need, as also the strong will of visual communication professionals, for initiatives to be taken, the organization of exhibitions, conventions. The creation of more general actions, which will forward visual communication's value to a broader public, while they will contribute to the cultivation of professional awareness. So, the idea of the organization of a Visual Communication Designers' Meeting in Cyprus came alive, by the name "Graphic Stories Cyprus".
The event, which was open to the public, was created to cover something that seemed missing the previous years from Cyprus, in relation with graphic design. As Robert Peters aim-fully said, "Design creates culture, culture shapes values and values define the future".
Graphic Stories Cyprus hopes to become a reference point for visual communication in our island, to be a motive for meeting and interaction between designers in Cyprus and abroad on an annual basis, to showcase Cypriot design and to contribute in the creation of culture and values.
