Is a work of Sara de Santis italian dancer and choreographer and Emanuel Andel new media artist
from Vienna.
We are collaborating since 2013 between Italy, Austria and Holland and now we aim to meet at
OUTLET residency for intense weeks of research to exploit space and time choreography.
The interior architecture of the venue will be directly connected to the motion of the
performer and the music via a 3d tracking system.
The environment as well as the motion of the dancer is captured and used to build the projections
that turns the same structure into one big dispositive.
This open a dialogue between the mechanism and the human, the dependencies change
up to a point where the performer not only controls the rhythm of the music but transforms from an
object that has been shaped, to a designer in charge.
Soon, the new world starts to generate it’s own behaviors based on the inconsistencies of
the performer - limiting the freedom of the dancer and pushing it into a new form of
rhythm, which is - in time - less and less influenced by its maker.
function follows performer is a reflection about the impossibility of the human being to leave out of
the system is our firm conviction that is impossible to break free out the superstructures that are
ruling us inasmuch we we have been grew and we were born in a environment that has shaped us as
a product of millions of evolutions and even though we try to change our way of relation to the
"reality" we are condemned to fail.
In any case we will recreate a situation in which we will be able to "alienate" ourself to the newly
established system.
