My goal was to create a dust jacket for the Nicholas Sparks book "The Best Of Me". I wanted to create a piece that was delicate in its design that paralleled the delicacy of first love. Within the wreath on the cover I added illustrations that reflect moments that occur within the story. This moments are harsh in nature and with those icons, add edge contradicting the delicate nature of the design. The entirety of the wreath is hand illustrated, and live traced to achieve the primitive look of adolescence.
