Shibori is the Japanese word for a variety of ways of embellishing textiles by shaping cloth and securing it before dyeing. The traditional dye used in shibori is 'indigo'. I created 6 cushion /pillow cover using the various shibori techniques.
I experimented with 5 techniques - Kumo (pleated & bound), Miura (loop binding), Nui (stitched), Honey Comb (scrunch cloth) & Itajime (clamping). At the end of the course, I made 6 cushion covers using all the 5 techniques in the traditional Indigo colour used in Japan.
