Design Oppertunities
During our initial fieldtrip to the hospital, Dr. Anna Bengan Bengtsson took us through the whole procedure of sedation. She told us that the procedure for children can be too stressful and is experienced as too frightning. In order to distract the child's attention, the child is asked to inflate and deflate the blue balloon which is attached to the sedation machine. The blue balloon is part of the sedation machine and is designed to limit the volume intake. Our team saw design oppertunities in this creative solution of Dr. Bengtsson.
Sound and Feedback
We explored topics such as gamification, rewards and levelling up. We experimented with different melodies, pitch changes and abstraction in sound. In the end we choose for the simplicity of this sound as we believe this would stimulate the full circel breathing, yet still keep the calmness of the patient.
Process Video
For this project we collaborated with the MFA Advanced Product Design students. This resulted in a multi-disciplined design team in which we managed to conduct extensive research, quick iterations, shoot the deliverable and enjoy doing what we love, within a time frame of two weeks.
