The FIFA World Cup, often simply called the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War.

 

About the project:
This is a school project completed through the last year of my studies in Akto. The aim of the project was to learn how to make a proper research before you design something and approach the whole subject carefully.
The main need were only a logotype and a poster, but a project like this needs always more applications to expand.

 

The main root for my inspiration was the ukrainian folk art and mainly their textiles. I tried to look behind the geometry of their designs and not just copy some elements, but evolve the existing ones and create a clean and distinct identity with the copy & the visuals in an absolute balance. The colors I chose are close to the ukrainian flag, but not the same. I chose stronger, almost fluo colors in order to give a more contemporary feel to the whole identity.
