School Kit Design

The Idea
Designing a school kit for children in first through third grade with the intention of teaching them about acceptance. The items in the kit would make it easier for a child with autism to use the items and retain focus in class. These objects are also used to educate other children about the differences that we all have and that doesn’t make one person better than another. The overall principle of the kit is to allow children from all different learning styles remain in the same classroom and learn together.

Initial Concept
Target Audience

- Children in first through third grade
- Teachers of those grades
- Parents who want to be pro-active with their child
- Therapeutic staff for children with disabilities
Designing the Products

When purchasing products for the kit I used the research on autism to focus on items that would be dual purpose. The other products had to be made from scratch or 3D printed. I painted all the products to have a matching color scheme.

After analyzing the school kits available in stores I chose to use colors that were easy to see.
