Transition is a limited edition newspaper report created as a practical synthesis to the theoretical element of my graduate design thesis.
The content featured in the newspaper is generated from the platform of information accumulated as part of the written investigation, which reviews the environmental impacts of modern capitalism and the countercultural social movements working towards a sustainable future.
The newspaper contextualises the ideas discussed within the dissertation by raising awareness of key issues and disseminating information that will help to strengthen the social movements promoted within the report.
The newspaper is all about vision and discusses the possibility and need for societal transformation. Therefore, the visual style balances transmuting or fragmented illustrations alongside a formal editorial structure created with user readability at its foremost concerns. Unlike most conventional newspapers, the publication makes use of a small, portable size, with a singular page measuring just smaller than an A4 sheet of paper.
To ensure that the newspaper itself adheres to the strict concepts of sustainability, a theme intrinsic to the publication, it's pages were screen printed on a recycled newsprint stock using vegetable based inks.
