I’m not sure of how it lost its foot. Maybe the rabbit was diabetic. It suffered from peripheral neuropathy and eventually lost sensation of its feet. He also could have been a railfan; stepped on the tracks at point, could have died right there, all left of him- the foot.
If I ever find a rabbits foot I’d let it go, for it’ll remind me of that hell of an unlucky rabbit.
