The Srishti Collective is an exhibiton space where every year the graduatiing batch showcase their diploma project. The visual language for this changes every year and is developed and worked on by students in the 2nd and 3rd year programme.
This year the branding and identity for the Srishti collective was based on three words,
Transformative
Layered
Layered
Vibrant
(Check out the branding project here : https://www.behance.net/gallery/22116073/Srishti-Collective-2014)
As part of the signage team, our objective was to create a dynamic approach to convey simple signage so as to navigate throught the exhibition space with maximum efficency.
using the best vantage point, we created a tree inspired structure around a pillar column that would deliver an aethetical and functional value for signage.
We created some digital mockups. these are essential to create before building any structure so that the whole team is at the same line of thought.
The whole structure had 3 stages during construction.
Stage 1 - building the boxes using different materials so as to have total balance in the strcture, both from inside and outside. We built the boxes with 3 combinations :
wood + iron
Wood + sunboard
Sunboard
Stage 2 - assembling the boxes exactly the same way as planned. This took alot of drilling and screwing but it was the most critical phase of the build.
Stage 3 - painting the structure and adding the signage. The text and arrows were all vinyl print cut outs source from the local market.
