// Made for a school project requiring a music collection of a retired band or musician.

The + - Collection is a reboot of the 2007 Joy Division box set. + - is a collectable item as is a limited pressing and includes all exclusive items.

Joy Division has a distinct style, haunted and melancholic. They are minimal and have dark undertones in all of their artwork, which perfectly reflects their sound. + - Incorporates this style but with a small hint of more decorative type and color to amplify their classic look. The lack of vibrancy and main subject in the artwork will connect to the word that I want associated with + - which is “somber”.

The artwork in the collection will have similar source imagery as the originals, but all reimagined. Peter Saville, again commissions the 3d pulsar grid and artwork of Still and Unknown Pleasures. The iconic pulsar grid is essential to Joy Division’s vision and I wanted to solve a way to still include it in + -.

The collection box features a die cut of the plus (+) and minus (-) symbols on each side. The LP artwork can be shown through to reveal the symbols when the packaging is set together. The set includes Unknown Pleasures and Closer in LP format, and Unknown Pleasures, Closer, and Still in CD format. The CDs are tied together with a gray ribbon, just like how Still was released. This way, the CDs are in separate sleeves to be more easily transported for a fan’s use. The box also includes a leaflet booklet containing lyrics and images, a download card (to all three albums, live tracks, and unreleased demos), and a limited run Joy Division patch.
