It was my first bigger task on Bachelor’s Programme. I had to design a house for four-member family. The location was up to us and it did not have to exist so I chose a fictional place among mountains near the lake. The parcel is not far from the city, which is connected with a road. Thanks to a beauty spot it allows to have calm and harmonic life. The main idea was to integrate a house with a slope in order not to predominate the surrounding nature. From the north, there is only one floor visible, but from the south - two of them. The whole building, thanks to small cubature and height, does not argue with surrounding trees- It’s smaller, it conforms to them. It is not the building which is important, only nature. Thanks to the use of natural material such as stone or wood, this impression is amplified. Because of the use of glazing the house is light. On the ground floor, from the south, there are additional wooden blinds which create interesting play of sun and shadow in a living room. Additionally, parents’ room has big glazing from east which provides a beautiful view from the room and creates good space for work (at this part there is for example a desk). At the building there are two staircases –one inside the house and one outside which is integrated with the slope. Instead of fighting with nature, it uses it.
