Rideler - smart bar ends

Cyclists are a growing group of people on the road. In addition to the growing number of cyclists the risk of accidents is increasing as well. Especially in my hometown the bicycle network isn't well developed and there are many dangerous places. For this reason I developed Rideler. A system which reduces the risk of cycle accidents.

Smartphone

Smartphones are hardly indispensable in modern life. They became a thing you carry around everyday and everywhere (like a watch). But the whole power of this tiny computer is not used commonly. Rideler uses the sensors and the processing power of your smartphone to get relevant data and send them to the bar ends

Weather

Rideler checks the weather conditions regularly. If the weather become worse, for example ice, frost or rain, the driver gets a notification on his bar ends so he know that he has to adjust his driving according to the conditions. In addition the time of sunrise and sunsetare is retrieved. As soon as it gets dark, the security lights on the handlebar turn on automatically. This will help other road users to recognize the bicycle much better.

Navigation

Rideler provides an integrated navigation. You only need your smartphone to choose the destination. Afterwards you can put it into your pocket. The route will be displayed on the handlebar. In this case the information is not only important for the driver itself but also for the other road users. They are now able to see in which direction the cyclist will turn.

Community

Behind Rideler there is a community of people, all with an equal interest: Cycling. They all want to drive safe and sound through the traffic. Rideler offers the opportunity to share places with this community. The main focus is on danger zones. But you can share almost every interesting place such as sights, workshops or parking lots. If a cyclist is nearby such a place he gets a notification to his bar ends and knows what he will find or that he has to be careful in case of a danger zone.

Enterprise

Especially bicycle couriers can benefit of the concept behind Rideler. The system can be customized and integrated into the system of courier services. The driver receives all important information on his handlebar. He doesn't have to pick up his phone/pda while driving. Also the way to the delivery place can be displayed on the bar ends.
